Week 7: 12/4/2017: Michaels Kors Christmas Tree
Hey y'all! I have had a crazy busy week, but it has been great! I hope everyone is doing good, and that y'all are getting ready for Christmas!
The week started out as basically every other week. We do service at an assisted living home called Belmont. I love it! The people there are all so cute ❤ this week we made bows that look like Santa boots. They turned out great!
We had really great success this week! We had a lot of lessons, and we even got three new investigators! We are having a lesson with one of the new investigators tonight, and I am super excited. His name is Rick and he is a professor. He basically teaches the importance of religion. It will be a great experience. While we were out tracting, we met a man named Manohar... but that's too hard to say so he told us to call him Reddy. His wife is Anisha and they are from India. When we first met Reddy he told us that we could come back because he wanted one of our books ( The Book of Mormon )! We went back a few days later and had the best experience. We were able to read some of the Book of Mormon with him and talk about our beliefs. Reddy and Anisha also told us about their beliefs. They believe in meditation. It's kind of crazy, but they take the time out of their day to stop and try to better themselves. Its really cool! Anyway, we got their number and plan to go back!
On Wednesday we had a lot of lessons which was great! Thursday we had Elder Clayton (of the Seventy) and his wife Sister Clayton! We got to have a second zone conference which was so fun. I loved listening to their testimonies and the advice that they had. It was a blast. President Marsh challenged all of us to go out of our way for contacts this week. He said we could roll down our windows and talk to someone at a stoplight, jump out of the car to stop someone, just stuff like that. Well I took the challenge and failed miserably. We were driving out of a neighborhood when we passed a teenage boy. I jumped out of the car and walked towards him. He looked super confused. I tried talking to him about Christmas and then he informed me he was Jewish. That made it even more awkward. Anyway, I still gave him a card and told him to do service leading up to Christmas 🤣 it was great.
We also had the ward Christmas party this weekend which was awesome! The ward here is great and I'm glad to be here. We met some new people there, and were able to get to know them a little bit better. The party was so cute and the food was delicious! I am grateful to be where I am and to be with the people that I am with. The craziest part of the week was helping a less active set up her 14 foot Christmas tree. She is older, and really needed the help putting it up. It wasn't until we started that we realized how tall it was. The best part is when Lois (less active) told us that her cousin is Michael Kors!! What?! He sends her dolls each Christmas to put on her tree.. if you look at the picture you can see them! She was so thankful for our service that she took us out to Texas Roadhouse! It was sweet! I have had a great week! I know that God has a plan for each one of us, and He is always there watching over us. One thing I really learned this week was to not be afraid of anything! I challenge you to talk to someone new this week! Also, take part in #LightTheWorld! It will be so great!
Thank you for all of the support and love. I am so blessed. I hope everyone is doing great! Talk to you next week. ❤
