Week 9: 12/18/2017: Angels Among Us
Hey y'all!
Oh my goodness it has been a great week! I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!
This week we had some really great lessons! One of the investigators that we are working with is really progressing, and I am so excited for her! We met with a new investigator and kind of got Bible bashed... but it's okay. We had a really cool experience at the beginning of this week too! We were in the middle of a Facebook messenger lesson, and we got a phone call. It was a girl named Emily, and she asked us what we knew about Joseph Smith and the seer stone. It was crazy! We told her and then set up a time to meet with her. Emily also told us that she has been thinking about becoming a Mormon and thought that she needed the lessons. We were all excited the entire week! Well Saturday came, but Emily sure didn't. It was a real bummer. We tried calling her, but her phone was shut off. Hopefully she will have the desire to learn more!
On Wednesday I had the most amazing experience ever! All month long the relief society has been talking about the Chirstmas party the were having for the Relief Society. We decided to go to the party that night because we thought one of the recent converts would be there. She never showed up, but Sister Oldham and I stayed anyway. The theme was angels among us. It was beautiful! Each sister brought an angel to put on this beautiful Christmas tree. We had a great dinner and then they began reading angel stories that some of the women had written. After that they called Sister Oldham and I up. Sister Walker (relief society President) told everyone what we had done on Sunday. Sister Walker had come to pick us up for church and on our way out an older lady needed help getting the snow/ice off her windshield. Well in Georgia they don't have ANYTHING for snow, so we had to use our elbows to get it off ha! Anyway, Sister Walker said we were angels and we were super embarrassed. Then she said, " we would love to give you this Christmas tree." Sister Oldham and I looked at each other, and tears began to run down our faces. We did not have a tree or a single christmas decoration. It was really hard for me, but we just kept working and going on with life. Sister Walker said that she knew God knew how important a tree was to us, and that is why she had the idea to give a tree to the sisters months ago. It was incredible. All of the sisters also brought gifts to exchange, and they went on to tell us that all of the gifts were for us. Let me just say, there were even more tears on our faces. Someone else could have used those gifts, but we were very blessed to receive them. It was an incredible night, and I will never forget this Christmas.
Yesterday at church I also met Lisa Blacketts niece! She and her husband are in my ward! Her husband came up to me and was talking about his wife and that she was born in Nephi. He asked if I knew Lisa B and I said of course! I love her! Everybody knows her! It was so crazy! I'm glad to be in their ward.
This week was amazing! Thank you so much for the love and support. I am grateful for the cards and packages that I have received this Chritsmas! I am extremely blessed. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Remember to #LightTheWorld.
