Week 43: 8/22/2018: Fiery Furnace
Transfer week! I will be staying in Gainesville with my new companion Sister Willener! I am so excited because she is a Spanish missionary which means we will be a zebra companionship ( Spanish and English missionaries together ). It will be a lot of fun, and I hope to learn some Spanish ha!
This week we had a lot going on! We had interviews with President Marsh, Sister King had the trainer meeting ( she will be training in Johns Creek ), and we had a lot of tender mercies! Oh and our A.C. has been broken 😭🤣 so we are literally living in the fiery furnace of affliction.. lol!
On Saturday we had an amazing experience with a guy named Don. We felt promoted to go to downtown Gainesville, instead of our next appointment. So we did. As we were walking I went up to a man and asked him how he was, he said not good. We began talking to him, and he expressed his his thoughts and feelings about God. This man, Don, wondered why our father in Heaven would let so many people suffer. As Don expressed his thoughts, I could feel God's love for this man. As I bore my testimony, my chest was burning. In the 10 months that I have been out in Georgia, I have never shared such a strong testimony. I know we were sent to Don by divine design. Although Don has not accepted the gospel, yet, I know we touched his heart. We all go through challenges because that is part of life. Life wasn't meant to be easy. If it was, we would not joy, sorrow, failure, or success. God doesn't want us to suffer, and that is why He sent His son Jesus Christ. I know Jesus Christ is there with us every step of the way, and that will never change.
This week our bishop told us to go visit a lady named Alexis. We figured she was a member that had not come to church in awhile or something like that, but it turned out she wasn't even baptized! We invited Alexis to church and she brought her two kids with her! She has a 13 year old daughter named Song and a 7 year old boy named Gavin. Yes, Gavin reminded me of my nephew and it was the best thing ever! Haha! Anyway, they came to church and it was great! Alexis was introduced to the church when she was about 10 years old, and went with a friend for 5 years. After that she sort of forgot about the church until recently. Alexis has a strong testimony and wants to learn more! We go back on Tuesday!
I know the Lord is blessing this area with so much, and I am grateful to be a part of it. I know that this church is the only church on earth that has the fullness of the Gospel. I don't doubt that at all. If you do doubt that, I invite you to read the Book of Mormon with real intent, ponder what you read, and ask God if it's true. If you do each of those steps, you will undoubtedly receive an answer. The answer will be yes. I promise.
