Week 68: 2/11/2019: 16 Months Already?!
This week it went from 80 degrees to 40 degrees real quick, but that's Georgia for you!
One of the biggest miracles that I saw this week was definitely being able to put our investigator Josh on date! He has been taught for awhile, but comes to church faithfully and loves the church. When I got here I had heard that Josh wanted to wait YEARS to be baptized.. that was not happening! So, we went through some worries that Josh had about being baptized and we were able to answer his questions this week. One thing he asked us was what our investigators mean to us. I love this questions because we were able to testify of our love for all those we teach and how we always want the best for them! Josh accepted March 9th for his baptismal date!
This week we also had the privelage of having a YSA dinner with Richard J. Maynes! He talked about goal setting and how important it is to set high goals. In one of his talks from 1997 he says, " If you want to reach your potential in the future, if you want to become the person the Lord wants you to be, you had better work on it today, because it is a true principle that we become what we do." I love this quote because it is never too late to try and better yourself! Along with changing and becoming better, it is equally important that we are able to look back and reflect on how far we have come. Don't get caught up in perfectionism ( I know I have before ) but instead get caught up in the joy of daily repentance and gospel living. As we focus on the Savior, we will become more than we ever thought was possible.
I love this mission and I love being a servant of the Lord. Today is my 16 month mark, and I couldn't be more grategul for my opportunity to serve as a missionary. Trials and tests come, but those experiences help me to know that the Lord lives. He isn't just a story in a book, but he is in fact real. Jesus Christ loves each of us and is cheering us all on!
