Week 1: 10/17/2017
Hey ya'll!
It is finally my P day! It has been a long week, but it has been a week that will change my life. Before I get into my week, I just wanted to say that anyone can email me whenever they want because I can read all my emails as long as I do not respond until my P day. I hope everyone is doing great! Here is a little bit about my week.
The first day was honestly a little overwhelming, and I don't remember a lot of what happened. I got my companion, Sister Warner, and I love her so much! She is from South Jordan and so cute! We get a long and we understand each other. Our roommates are Sister Maddox and Sister Clark. They are the best! We all get along and we are more like a group than two companionships. We call our room the PIT because we are Peaches In Training. The Lord blessed me when He put me with these girls. They are my new best friends.
The blankets here are like sandpaper. I thought the sister who told me that was lying, but she was so not lying. I miss my soft blankets at home, but at least I have one right? ha! The first two days we got our first investigators which was scary, but they both went really well! We now do TRC's which are investigators that could be members but some are not. They said there is almost a 100% chance that the non-member investigators get baptized after coming to the MTC and being taught. Last night we had a great TRC meeting! We had planned to teach a woman named Kyeisha, but then at last minute they switched our investigator. Although we were not prepared for our new investigator Daryl, the lesson was great. That was a real testimony builder for me because I don't do well when things do not go the way I plan them, but it helped me to know that if you trust in the Lord completely He will always be there to help you. Another moment from this week that really stuck out to me was during class. I have THE BEST teachers! Sister Schmitt and Brother Wilson. They are so cute and you can see the light of Christ in them. Brother Wilson was teaching about Jesus Christ in Gethsemane. I have never felt the spirit so strong. I can't explain what I felt, but it was an overwhelming feeling of love. I know Jesus Christ suffered and died for us, but He went below what He had to do. Instead of just suffering for our sins, He suffered for our times of stress, or sadness, or heartache. He loves us more than we can comprehend. I love Jesus Christ with all of my heart and I am so thankful for His love.
Things were going great until Sunday.. My companion and I walked into our class when President Judd ( Branch President ) wanted to talk to us. Well let's just say you are looking at your new branch music coordinators... yeah I have no musical talent, and yet we got this calling. My companion doesn't have musical talent either so it will be a learning process, but I know that we can do it! On Sunday's and Wednesday's it is ice cream night. The first night we didn't get any ice cream because we don't want to be 50 pounds heavier when we get out of here. that didn't last long. Sunday night we had the most AMAZING ice cream I have ever had. It is called the Graham Canyon. That was life changing. Ha! I also got to see Sister Davis and Sister Bonzo from Nephi! That was so fun. They will do amazing things. On a more spiritual note, we got to attend the dedication of the new buildings! Eyring and Oaks were here which was so awesome, and then on Sunday at devotional we had Elaine S. Dalton speak. I wish I could say she talked a lot, but her husband took up all the time and left her with three minutes to speak. Men right? (; Just kidding! It was great and I am thankful I got to hear Sister Dalton's testimony. She is so cute! This week has been crazy, but crazy is good! I hope everyone is doing great, and I miss everyone of you! Please don't ever forget that you are not alone. Jesus Christ is always with you, but you have to take the first steps toward Him. Be happy and remember that life is great! I love ya'll!
