Week 12: 1/8/2018: Into the Waters of Baptism

Hey y'all! What a great week it has been! So many amazing things happened, and I can't wait to tell y'all about it!

The best news of the week... WE SET A DATE FOR GRACIE TO BE BAPTIZED!! I am seriously so excited for her. Gracie is about to turn nine and she is getting baptized on Januray 27th! Gracie is an incredible young girl. She has a special light and is especially close to her Heavenly Father. Her mom is a recent convert, and can't wait to have her baby girl be a member with her. I am so excited for Gracie, and I know that this decision will change her life!

Sarah, our 16 year old investigator, introduced us to her friend Ashton. Ashton is actually dating a member who is out on a mission right now. Ashton and Sarah are best friends and we just love them! We had a lesson scheduled with Sarah, and then she surprised us by bringing Ashton!! Ashton's dad started out by not supporting her decision to learn more about the church, but the spirit works in mysterious ways. Her dad now says that she can gett baptized! We just started teaching her, but she said her end goal is to get baptized and then eventually go through the temple. Crazy! We also had an amazing experience with Sarah. We were teaching her about tithing, but mostly aboout fasting. Before the lesson Sister Oldham and I had prayed really hard to be inspired for a baptismal date for Sarah. We both chose February 3rd. Sarah has been nervous to get baptized, but we still extended the invitation to her. The moment we asked her to fast this Sunday to know if February the 3rd was the right day, I could see a physical change in her. The spirit had hit all of us like a brick. So much that Sarah almost started crying and was at a loss for words. It was seriously incredible. We are following up with her to know how it went, but no matter what it was an amazing experience!

Of course we had to have a few bumps in the road this week, but it actually turned out okay! Saturday morning we helped a less active take down her Christmas decorations, and then we had a lesson scheduled in the same neighborhood right after. Well, our lesson was also our ride home (we were about 8 miles from home... with no bikes or a car ). The lesson ended up getting cancelled along with our ride, and we ended up walking like 6 miles that day while trying to find a ride. It was FREEZING as well. It sounds awful, but we made the best out of it and just laughed the whole time! No worries though, we found a ride!

This week we had a lot of miracles, and I am so grateful! I also want to express my gratitude for Thomas S. Monson. I love him so much, and I am grateful for his example of Christlike love and service. We now need to extend our love and support to the new prophet. I am grateful to know that the church is still being led by the proper authority. I hope everyone is still sticking to their new years resolutions.. don't quit already. It's only been a week (; I hope everyone has the best week! I love and miss y'all!
