Week 48: 9/24/2018: Who's on the Lord's Side?
I hope everyone had a great week! I love being in Gainesville and serving the people in this area 😊
This week we were supposed to have mission conference with Elder Costa of the seventy, but that did not end up happening because of the problems in the Carolinas. The good news is that David A Bednar is coming to speak to us in Ocotber!! I am super excited to learn from him and hear him speak!
Our investigators Alexis and Song had to move their baptism back, but that is okay. They need more time to learn all of the lessons and feel comfortable with the decision they are making. They are both progressing though, and we plan to pick a new date for them this week! I am so grateful for the both of them bevause I love teaching them and seeing the gospel change their lives.
This week we talked to a lot of people that are having problems or know of people that are having problems with anti literature about the church. Here is my take on the situation. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church. The natural man sees flaws first, and then sees the good. This is what happens when people read anti literature. It is so easy to jump on board with a negative article about the church, but for some reason it is hard for people to open their hearts and their minds when they read the Book of Mormon. I know if you read the Book of Mormon with an open heart and mind, you will not let false information affect your testimony. If you know someone who has turned away from the church, I urge you to continue to live the standards of the church. The example we set for others makes a huge difference. Heavenly Father knows our hearts and wants us to have eternal joy. This eternal joy comes as we follow God's commandments. Jesus Christ is coming. Now is the time to be on His side or against Him. I know as we choose Him we will see His hand more abundantly in our life.
That's all I have for this week. I hope everyone is safe from the fires in Utah, and that y'all have a great week! Lots of love.
