Week 64: 1/14/2019: Marks on Our Hearts

I say that every week is good, which it is, but I wanted to be a bit more real in my email this week.

Missionary work is amazing, and when a missionary shares an experience from their time serving it is usually a good or funny experience. Although, that's not how it is most of the time. At least not in my experience haha! Missionary work is incredibly hard, it's long hours, door after door, rejection after rejection, and so much more. So why do we keep doing it day after day? Well, each of those rejections and heart aches leaves a mark in our hearts. It shapes us and forms into who we need to be. We talk about the good times because that is the little boost of energy that our soul needed to continue on. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve my Savior every day, and to wear my black name tag! Hard times come, but we need them to see what we are made of and how we can become like Jesus Christ.

At church last week, someone bore their testimony and it really impacted me. She said that one day she was looking in the mirror and thought that she saw her mom staring back at her. I could imagine that happening to me and not only seeing my mom staring back at me, but to see all the strong women that came before my mom because they paved the way for us to continue on with their legacy. I also thought that if I can ever look in the mirror and see my mom staring back at me, then I made it. If I can be half of who she is then I will be pretty awesome!

The past 15 months have been incredible. Thankfully I still have time to continue to serve and find out what I'm made of!

I hope y'all have a great week! Lots of love
