Week 26: 4/16/2018

Hey y'all!  It's been a busy week here in Laurel Springs, but that's how missionary work goes!  This week we did a lot of finding, and have a lot of return appointments coming up this week! I love when people are open to learning new things, and are accepting of the great message we share. This week I had a moment where I realized just how important missionary work is. A member said that we are servants of the Lord, and knows we are doing what He wants us to do. I hadn't really thought of being a servant of the Lord, but I am grateful to be out here representing Him!  This week, I was extremely clumsy. On Wednesday, our complex was having a party with a food truck and everything. Not to mention, the food truck was The Varsity! Anyway, we were able to help out at the party a little bit. The had food games, and classic cars. It was seriously so much fun. When the fun was over, we started cleaning up. I said I could take this table, but realized real quick how...

Week 25: 4/9/2018: Clogged Toilets

Hey y'all!  What a good week it was in Georgia! Great things are happening here, and the Lord is so involved in the work. I know this is HIS church, and He is helping me every day.  This week was harder, but that's okay! It was mostly hard because everyone was out of town for spring break, but now they're back and we are ready to teach them! We did a lot of finding this week(as usual), and we found 2 new investigators! They are so awesome and the husband's name is Walter and the wife's name is Barbara. We found them by tracting, and they love Jesus Christ SO much! The first day we met them we were able to teach them and set up a return appointment which was great! They invited us to go to their church on Sunday morning, and that was a blast. To be honest, I was really nervous to go to a different church, but it really strengthened my testimony. Walter and Barbara attend a nondenominational church, and when we first got there everyone was extremely nice. The people w...

Week 24: 4/2/2018: Spoiler Alert: The Tomb was Empty

Hey y'all! I hope everyone had a great Easter and got the opportunity to watch general conference!  This week started out by having interviews with President and Sister Marsh. I just love them! I was able to receive great council and know that my Heavenly Father is aware of me. When I was talking to Sister Marsh, we began talking about my 5th great grandma, Patty Bartlett Sessions. She was an incredible lady. Patty was an example to all. She was a faithful, diligent, and loving saint. This week I found a poem written by Eliza R. Snow for my 5th great grandma. It is a beautiful poem, and it explains an amazing lady.  We had a cool service experience while tracting this week! We were knocking doors, and this lady answered. I just felt to ask if she needed service. She told us no, and that if she did she would of course pay us. We explained that we love service and we do it for free because that's what Jesus Christ would do. She let us in and we were able to reorganize her st...

Week 23: 3/26/2018: The Lord's Work, Not Mine

Image
Hey y'all! It's been a great week in Georgia, as always. It's the Lord's work, so it's always good 😉  This week we had zone P day, and that was a blast. We played volleyball and had so much fun! I'm not going to lie, I was definitely sore the next day 🤣 I love getting together with all of the other missionaries because it's nice to see those who are doing the same thing as you. We are able to learn from each other and become best friends!  We did a lot of finding this week.. like every week lol. We were able to talk to a lot of people and teach them, but the results we wanted didn't necessarily come. It was frustrating, but Kevin(awesome ward mission leader) was able to help me and remind me that this is the Lord's work, not mine. Everything is on His time clock, and I am just lucky enough to be helping  Him here in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission. As people, we want results quickly, but that doesn't leave a lot of room for growth. I know tha...

Week 22: 3/19/2018: Raining Cats and Dogs

Hey y'all! Another busy week in Laurel Springs. A lot of great things are happening, and I know there are even better things to come for this area!  This week was great! We had an amazing lesson with our new investigator Pedro. We met him tracting about a week ago, and he has been interested in the Book of Mormon ever since. We went to have a lesson with him, and when we got there he was watching a game. We asked if we could come in, but he said the game was on. If you know me, you know I'm pretty stubborn so I told him the Gospel was more important than the game, and then he let us in. We were able to read the first chapter of the Book of Mormon with him. It was incredible to see him open up to us, and really have a desire to know more. He is a great guy, and we are excited to continue teaching him.  The best part of the week was getting caught in the rain on our bikes. That was a blast 🤣 we had to bike this MONSTER hill, and then of course it started to rain. Georgia is the...

Week 21: 3/12/2018: Shrimp and Grits

Hey y'all! Another great week here in the peach state!  This week was one of the best weeks I have had in the mission. It was hard, but so rewarding. At the beginning of the week I had to say goodbye to Sister Oldham which was so sad, but I got the best new missionary! Her name is Sister Holman and I am so excited to be with her! I love training, and I know I will learn a lot.  We started the week out strong, and started working hard from the first day. Sister Holman is a hard worker, and I love that! We reacted a lot this week... As always, and found some really great people. We had a lot of miracles, and we definitely saw the Lord's hand in the work this week. On Thursday we were tracting, and so many great things happened. We knocked on a door, and a guy named Pedro answered. He is in his early 20s. We told him about the Book of Mormon, and he was very interested. I told him he could have a free copy, and he thought that was great! I went to grab a copy out of my bag when I...

Week 20: 3/5/2018: Training Wheels

Image
Hey y'all! It's been a busy, but good week!  First off.. I am training!! I am so excited for this next transfer, and for the chance I have to train. I have so much to learn, but I know that with the Lord's help I can do it! I am so sad to be leaving Sister Oldham because we have become best friends these past three transfers, but I know she will do amazing things. I've learned so much from here especially how to be patient and love everyone! Tomorrow we have transfers, and that's when we will go with our new companions. I am nervous, but excited! Sister Oldham is killing it, and will be STL in Woodstock! She's been in that area before, and she loved it! I'm very happy for her. I will stay in Laurel Springs and train! It's going to be awesome!  We had a lot of good things happen this week. This week we had a sisters conference for all of the sisters in the mission! It was a blast! There are around 60 sisters in our mission, and it is seriously the greates...
