Week 11: 1/1/2018: The Sweet Life

Image
Hey y'all! It has been a great week as always. I hope everyone had a happy new year! This week started out with some real fried chicken. When I thought of Georgia I thought of fried chicken and southern accents, but I think I am too far north ha! Nobody has cute southern accents, and I have not eaten fried chicken. Well, some of that changed when we had dinner with a member. WE HAD FRIED CHICKEN! It was seriously so good! It's the little things in life.  This week we had zone conference, and that was a blast. I love getting together with all of the missionaries and having a good time. We talked about some creative ways to find new people and hopefully they will work! The best part of the day is when we sang hymns all together. The missionaries were invited to pick a favorite hymn and then explain why it was their favorite. It was so cool to hear all of the reasons why missionaries chose certain songs. The spirit was so strong. One elder chose "Love is Spoken Here...

Week 10: 12/25/2017: Merry CHRISTmas

Merry Christmas y'all!  I hope everyone had a reat Christmas! Thank you for every thought, package, card, email, and just every little bit of support. It means the world to me. I am so blessed, and I am so grateful for all the amazing people in my life. This week was great, and Christmas made it even better! This week we started out by having District Meeting. I gave a training in district meeting, and it actually went really good. I gave a training on praying with faith. This week was a hard one for me considering my faith. We have been struggling to get new investigators, but we continued to have faith. We were doing everything we were supposed to and more, but no success. We could not understand why we had so much faith, but no success. Well, we had a really cool experience! The elders in a different ward met this man while volunteering, and he said his 15 year old son would be interested in meeting with missionaries. The elders found out that the boy is in our area! So ...

Week 9: 12/18/2017: Angels Among Us

Hey y'all!  Oh my goodness it has been a great week! I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!  This week we had some really great lessons! One of the investigators that we are working with is really progressing, and I am so excited for her! We met with a new investigator and kind of got Bible bashed... but it's okay. We had a really cool experience at the beginning of this week too! We were in the middle of a Facebook messenger lesson, and we got a phone call. It was a girl named Emily, and she asked us what we knew about Joseph Smith and the seer stone. It was crazy! We told her and then set up a time to meet with her. Emily also told us that she has been thinking about becoming a Mormon and thought that she needed the lessons. We were all excited the entire week! Well Saturday came, but Emily sure didn't. It was a real bummer. We tried calling her, but her phone was shut off. Hopefully she will have the desire to learn more!  On Wednesday I had the most ...

Week 8: 12/11/2017: Two Months

Image
Hey y'all!  It's my two month mark today! Transfers are  tomorrow , but because I am still training I will still be in Laurel Springs. I love it here, and I love my trainer! Its been a great week!  Tuesday we got to go to the temple! It was awesome! When I first got my call it said that I would only get to go on my last day in the field, but President Marsh wants us to go more than that! President Marsh is really big on family history, and so we were able to give the youth a bunch of family names to do baptisms for! Oh yeah! I actually forgot my temple recommend... I was horrified. Anyway, it all worked out haha! The temple is so comforting, and I love being able to seek for answers while sitting in the Celestial Room.  We had some really incredible miracles this week! While we were tracting we walked into a man who was working and unloading washer and dryers. We have had a goal to talk to literally everyone we see. We started talking to him and gave him ...

Week 7: 12/4/2017: Michaels Kors Christmas Tree

Hey y'all! I have had a crazy busy week, but it has been great! I hope everyone is doing good, and that y'all are getting ready for Christmas!  The week started out as basically every other week. We do service at an assisted living home called Belmont. I love it! The people there are all so cute ❤ this week we made bows that look like Santa boots. They turned out great!  We had really great success this week! We had a lot of lessons, and we even got three new investigators! We are having a lesson with one of the new investigators tonight, and I am super excited. His name is Rick and he is a professor. He basically teaches the importance of religion. It will be a great experience. While we were out tracting, we met a man named Manohar... but that's too hard to say so he told us to call him Reddy. His wife is Anisha and they are from India. When we first met Reddy he told us that we could come back because he wanted one of our books ( The Book of Mormon )! We went bac...

Hey y'all!  P day already?! That's crazy! Of course it been a busy week, but it has been a great week. A lot has happened and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  To start this week out I went on exchanges again with Sister Ward! She is an awesome missionary! I went to Lilburn with her, and we met some really awesome people. We had dinner at a members house which was interesting. She was so sweet and made awesome food, but she didn't sit with us for dinner ha! It was a little weird but it's all good. I learned a lot from her and I was glad I got to go on exchanges.  On Wednesday we went tracting all day. It was awesome! Thursday was Thanksgiving, and it was so much fun. We got to be with members all day! In the morning we went to the Turkey Bowl with a member. It was a lot of fun. Of course we didn't play, but it was fun to be there! Later that day We helped a family cook Thanksgving dinner. I got my mom's homemade cherry pie recipe, and I actu...
